Litters
Create a litter with a dam (in-program) and a sire (in-program or external).
Litters (/admin/litters (/admin/litters in your admin)) is where you announce and document each litter. A litter ties together a dam, a sire, optional dates, a description, and the kittens.
Required fields
- Dam — picked from your Cats list (must be added first under Cats (/admin/animals in your admin)).
- Sire — either picked from your Cats list (in-program) or typed in (external).
Sire toggle
The form has two modes:
- In my program — autocomplete picks a male cat from your Cats list. The sire links to its profile on the public litter page.
- External — free-text sire name plus optional owner name. No profile link.
If you breed only your own studs, you'll always be on "In my program". If you use outside studs sometimes, the External mode keeps the data simple — you don't have to create cat records for studs you don't own.
Dates
Pick whichever you have:
- Expected — pre-birth announcements. Litter shows in a "Coming soon" state.
- Born — once kittens arrive. Litter cards show their born date.
You can have both — when both are set, "born" wins for the public display.
Description
Rich text — write whatever you want about this pairing. Use it to talk about lineage, what you're hoping for, or notes for buyers.
Cover photo
Upload a cover photo on the litter (separately from individual kitten photos). Used as the card image in the Litters listing. If unset, falls back to the dam's primary photo.
Public toggle
Off by default. Making a litter public is a prerequisite for its kittens being public — see the kittens page for the rule.
