Walkthrough

Get your site live

From an empty admin to a public site with one cat and your name on it. The fastest path from signup to launch.

Densites gives every cattery the same starter site the moment you sign up — your own subdomain (yourcattery.densites.com), a 404 page themed to your future brand, and an admin to fill it in. This walkthrough takes you from empty admin to a public home page with your first cat on it.

You don't have to finish in one sitting. The site stays private until you flip the public toggle.

Before you start

You'll want:

  • A name for your cattery and (ideally) a one-line tagline
  • One or two good photos of one of your cats
  • Your registry name if you have one (TICA, CFA, FIFe, ...) — optional

Everything you type into Densites is auto-saved when you click Save at the bottom of a form. There's no "draft mode" — what you save is what shows on your site, gated by the public/private toggle on each cat, litter, kitten, etc.

The three steps

  1. Fill in your cattery info

Head to Settings (/admin/settings in your admin). Set a tagline (one sentence, your "thing"), a short welcome paragraph (what makes your cattery yours), a brand color (one click — affects buttons and accents across your site), and your contact email. That's the minimum; the rest you can add anytime.

  2. Add your first cat

Go to Cats (/admin/animals in your admin) and click Add a cat. Two fields are required — name and sex. Everything else (titles, color, sire/dam, DOB, photos) is optional and can be added later. Upload at least one photo if you want this cat on your home page later.

  3. Make your site public

On the cat you just added, flip the public toggle at the bottom of the form. The moment you do, your home page composes itself from what you've published — the cat shows in the Featured Cats strip, and your tagline + welcome paragraph fill the hero. Open / to see it.

What just happened

The Densites home page is composed from whatever you've published — it has no static content of its own. As you add public cats, public kittens, and trust signals, the home page grows. With nothing published, it shows a "Coming soon" card so prospects can still apply.

Once all three steps are done, the onboarding checklist on your Dashboard (/admin in your admin) dismisses itself and we send you a welcome email.

What's next

  • Announce a litter — see the Announce a litter walkthrough.
  • Add more cats — repeat step 2 for your other queens and studs. Retired cats can be marked Retired so they live on a "Retired" filter on your public Cats page.
  • Upload a hero photo — back in Settings (/admin/settings in your admin), upload a hero photo to replace the illustrated fallback at the top of your home page.
  • Tighten the basics — read Settings for everything you can configure.
